In West Virginia, 511 is the number you'll soon have to remember for information.

Signs reminding people of that will soon be seen along the state's highways.

It's a number motorists will be able to dial before they leave home, to get everything from road construction information, to the latest traffic reports from West Virginia highways.

"It's a number or a website for travelers to call or check before they go, to give them information on accidents, work zones, or any kind of events," says Department of Transportation spokesman Brent Walker. "It gives them information on what's going on the road, to give them better choices and decisions about travel."

The signs will be visible on state roadways within the next month.
The first of them should be located in the Charleston area in early December.
