The Financial Health of Rural Health Care

By  |

A case of the "haves" and "have nots" when it comes to health care.

Ohio's rural hospitals struggle compared to their urban neighbors.

There have been reports recently of hospital closings in Nelsonville, and layoffs of hospital workers in Gallipolis.

The CEO of Memorial Health System says it adapted to meet changes in the health care system.

But it's doing so while building for the future.

"We feel we have partnered with our physicians in a way that poised us to respond to the challenges of the future," says CEO Scott Cantley, "and be ready to continue to provide this community's health care well into the future."

Marietta Memorial plans an august grand opening for the expansion of its new Belpre campus.

And Cantley says Selby Hospital, which became part of the Memorial system during the past decade, is in its future plans.
