UPDATE: Motion for New Trial Denied in Death of Brandy Adams

Crystal Smith was back in court Tuesday after her lawyer filed a motion for a new trial.

Wood County Circuit Court Judge Bob Waters denied that motion.

In late August, a jury found Crystal Smith guilty of conspiracy to conceal a deceased human body in connection with the death of Brandy Adams.

Sentencing is October 30 at 9 A.M.

A jury Wednesday (August 28) found Crystal Dawn Smith guilty of conspiracy to conceal a deceased human body.

Smith was found not guilty a charge of concealment.

Arthur Thornton was sentenced Tuesday for his involvement in the cover-up of Brandy Adams' death last fall.

Judge Bob Waters sentenced Arthur Thornton to 1-5 years on concealment of a deceased body.

Thornton was also sentenced to 6 months in jail for taking a car and 10 years for writing fraudulent checks.

He's currently serving 3-35 years in prison on other charges. This sentencing will run consecutive to that.

Last August, Brandy Adams was found in the trunk of her own car at a
Parkersburg car wash.

Thornton along with Crystal Smith and Victor Thompson were charged in the case. Police say the three drove Adams' body to the 7th Street Car Wash from a home in Meadowbrook Trailer Park, where she died.

Drugs were a factor in her death. The toxicology report will be released once all cases against the accused are closed.

Victor Thompson appeared in court Friday for his preliminary hearing

He's charged with felony possession with intent to deliver bath salts.

His preliminary hearing is continued as the defense wants to bring in a witness.

He got busted for the drugs last month when he was out on bond after being charged with concealing the body of Brandy Adams.

At about 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon Parkersburg Police arrested 3 people during a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Blizzard Drive.

Detectives were conducting surveillance to find fugitive Kaitlin Pryor. They saw her in a white minivan and pulled it over.

A canine gave a positive indication for drugs on the car. More than 50 grams of bath salts and heroin were found in the minivan.

Victor Lee Thompson faces one felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Joseph Lemon faces two misdemeanors county of possession of a controlled substance.

Pryor was arrested on an outstanding felony grand larceny warrant. In February, Pryor was accused of stealing a car and refusing to return it.

A month later the car was found in pieces at her home.

All three are waiting to be arraigned Tuesday night.
