"Toys For Tots" Time Again

By  |

The end of Halloween is a reminder that Christmas is less than two months away.

And the first events of this year's "Toys For Tots" campaign will be held this weekend, including a "fun run" beginning at 9 A.M. Saturday at Parkersburg City Park, and the first donation drives at Toys R Us.

And the organizer of the drive hopes, in spite of the continued uncertain economy, for a good collection of both new, unwrapped toys and money this year.

"Myself, along with a lot of volunteers who help with Toys For Tots, go out of our way to make sure a child gets a Christmas," says organizer Cliff Hecker. "The Mid-Ohio Valley has stepped up every year, and I don't think it will be different this year."

WTAP will take part in six collection events this holiday season, and the campaign wraps up with a day-long collection drive Friday, December 16th, at the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority offices on Market Street.
