The holidays are hard for those who are celebrating it without their loved ones.
And one local counseling center is helping them cope through this difficult time.
The Counseling and Wellness Center in downtown Parkersburg is holding sessions for those who are going through some rough times during the holidays.
Dr. Priscilla Leavitt says talking about the great memories of that family member will make their holiday celebration go a bit more smoother.
She also says it's normal for someone to cry or get mad whenever they see others with their family at a gathering.
"Well sometimes just remembering the purpose of that holiday if it's Thanksgiving, I can still be grateful, I can be grateful for that person, I can be grateful for some of the things that they did or they left or who I am because of them and those are really helpful," says Counseling and Wellness Center Owner and Psychologist, Priscilla Leavitt.
Those of you who are needing help to cope through the holiday season, please contact the Counseling and Wellness Center at 304-422-7300 or visit their website: http://www.counselingandwellnesscenter.com/professionals.php.
