Two Accused of Stealing $150,000 Worth of Goods

The Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested two people last night for stealing a truck and its equipment.

Deputies began an investigation on a stolen 2008 Ford Box Truck owned by IDS Hydro of Columbus. The truck was valued at $50,000 containing over $100,000 worth of water blasting equipment.

The vehicle and equipment had been reported stolen to the Pleasants County Sheriff's Office when the truck was parked on the lot of Cytec Industries in Belmont. It was later discovered by Deputies at the Lane Farm Campground in Newport Township.

46-year-old Debra M. Dean of Canton, Ohio and 42-year-old Russell A. Phillips who is also from Canton and homeless were each charged with receiving stolen property.

Phillips was also charged with Obstruction of Justice.

He is a Habitual Sex Offender after being convicted of Rape and was out on parole from the Lorain Correctional Institute. Additionally, Phillips had a felony warrants on file for failure to report to his parole officer and registering a change of address.

Both Phillips and Dean are behind bars in the Washington County Jail pending an appearance in Marietta Municipal Court on Monday.
