UPDATE: Trial Date Set for Step Mother Indicted On Aggravated Murder Charges

According to officials with the Athens County prosecutors office a pretrial was held this morning and a trial date set for Ashley Young,
who is accused in the murder of her step-daughter.

Young faces one count of aggravated murder, one count of endangering children, felony murder, attempted aggravated possession of drugs and tampering of evidence.

Her trial is set for February 7th, and she is currently being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

An Athens County Grand Jury indicted a woman from the Plains on aggravated murder and child endangerment charges.

25-year-old Ashley Young was charged in connection with the death of her four year old step-daughter, Kaylen Young.

Kaylen died last Wednesday, May 25th at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.

A few days prior, the child was taken to the hospital unresponsive.

At that time emergency officials say she had suspicious marks on her body indicating physical abuse.

Young was arrested and originally charged with attempted murder.
She remains behind bars awaiting arraigned next Tuesday, June 7th.

An Athens County woman is facing possible aggravated murder charges in connection with the death of her 4 year old step daughter.

Officials with the Athens County Sheriff's Office say aggravated murder charges are being sought against 25 year-old Ashley Young of the Plains.

The charges are in connection with the death of 4 year-old, Kaylen Young.

Kaylen died Wednesday at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.

On Monday, the child was taken to O'Blenness Memorial Hospital, unresponsive.

At that time emergency officials say she had suspicious marks on her body indicating physical abuse.

She was then transferred to Columbus.

Life support was pulled just after noon Wednesday, after a brain scan found no brain activity in Kaylen.

Ashley Young was arrested and originally charged with attempted murder.

The Athens County grand jury meets next on June 2nd.

Young remains in custody on $1 million.
