A local teen has been found guilty of negligent homicide.

Cameron Lucas, 17, stabbed and accidentally killed Lamarr Wilder after an altercation at a Washington County house party last year.

He claimed it was self defense, but a juvenile judge says he failed to prove that. He said Lucas didn't attempt to defend himself before resorting to deadly force.

The case will now be transfered back to Athens county for sentencing- where Lucas is from.

The parents who hosted the party will be tried in Washington County Court on March 14.

An Athens county teen accused of killing a 19-year-old Athens man at a party in June will have a public trial.

Washington County Juvenile Court Judge Timothy Williams ruled Cameron Lucas' trial for allegedly stabbing Lamarr Wilder will be public.

So now more information about the case can be released.

Assistant Washington County Prosecutor Raymond Dugger said 17-year-old Lucas is facing a first degree misdemeanor charge of negligent homicide.

The juvenile court administrator said the defense has filed a written denial so the case will go straight to a pretrial hearing in the chambers which is not open to the public.

Lucas will have a bench trial that will be open to the public.

Dugger said the maximum sentence for the charge would be commitment to the Washington County Juvenile Center.
James and Shenandoah Walraven, who reportedly hosted the party, have pleaded not guilty to charges related to the stabbing death of Wilder.

The Walravens' trial date is set for Jan. 24 in Washington County Common Pleas Court.

The youth accused in a stabbing incident which left a 19-year old Athens man dead...has not yet been charged in juvenile court.

Washington County Prosecutor James Schneider said last month that a complaint in the case had not yet been filed in juvenile court.

Schneider said last month that the unidentified juvenile would not be tried as an adult.

Lamarr Wilder was stabbed to death at a birthday party in June at a Belpre-area residence.

An Athens County couple has pleaded not guilty to a variety of charges related to the incident.
