Believe it or not, school is right around the corner and every child on the quest for knowledge needs some tools to help along the way.

One local organization is doing more than its part to make sure every student in the valley has the tools they need. The United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley says they will distribute 2,000 backpacks this summer.

The program will distribute them to students in eight West Virginia counties and to Washington County and Athens County in Ohio.

The program is a partnership between the United Way Alliance, Community Resources Incorporated, the Family Resource Network and Huntington Bank.

To get a backpack for your child, present a medical card or SNAP statement from the last three months at Parkersburg City Park Friday, July 31 between 4-7 in the evening.
