The proficiency test is also being offered there Thursday from 5 to 7.

A total of 30 permits are available on a first come basis.

Four must be in the kill zone of the target.

The urban deer hunting season is September 6 through December 31 at Johnson T. Janes Park.

It's almost time to get your gear ready for urban deer hunting season on both sides of the river.

In Parkersburg the season starts September 6th and ends December 31st in Johnson T. Janes Park.

Thirty permits will be issued on a first come basis and can be picked up at the city building on the 4th floor.

A valid West Virginia hunting license is required.

The test will be given at the Parkersburg Police firing range on Keever Street.

"We only issue 30 permits on a first come, first serve basis, so even if you've in the past passed the test, you still have to re-apply the permit each year," says Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell.

To pass you must shoot five arrows at a target at twenty yards ground level.

Four must be in the kill zone of the target.

Tests are 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. August 12th and 14th.

In Marietta the only test to hunt inside city limits is September 12th at Buckeye Park from 5 to 7 p.m.
