A teenage driver was charged last week in Gallipolis for her role in a car crash that resulted in death.
19-year-old Brianna Byus was driving an SUV February 8 with her passenger, Bethany Hackney, who was 18-years-old.
According to the complaint filed in Gallipolis Municipal Court, the Ohio State Highway Patrol says Byus was speeding when she lost control, crossed the center line, hit a ditch and overturned.
Byus was charged last week.
She is set to be arraigned November 1.
The Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Patrol is investigating a fatal vehicle crash involving four teens Friday afternoon.
The crash happened on Country Road 57 (Fairview Road) in Gallia County.
The roadway was closed up to four hours.
Officers say the vehicle was traveling southbound on CR 57 as it drove off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, and rested on its top.
18-year-old driver, Brianna Byus, 17-year-old, Jordan Coughnour, and 18-year-old Kayla Williamson were all taken to the Holzer of Gallipolis with minor injuries.
But 18-year-old, Bethany Hackney was pronounced dead at Holzer.
The crash is still under investigation.
