UPDATE: March 4th 4:08PM

The hacking of Washington State Community College's website is now in the hands of federal authorities, according to Marketing Director, Claudia Owens.

WSCC wasn't alone, as the town website of Wanatah, Indiana was also hacked by a group claiming to be Al-Qaeda.

Owens says normally in these situations, they would put an alert up on the website but they were unable to do so, instead, they contacted everyone at the school.

WTAP will bring you more information on this matter as it comes available.

Hacked by a group claiming to be Al-Qaeda. That's what students and faculty found when they tried to log on to Washington State Community College's website Friday.

We've included a screen grab of the site, taken around 4:00 p.m.

A student called the newsroom and said when he tried to log in to his student account, he got the hacked site instead.

Administrators at WSCC had the hacked information off the site by 4:15, but are still working to get the site back up and running.

Officials with the school say the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating and they will pursue this as a criminal act.

Also, the school reminds students that they can log on to i.wscc.edu to check grades and access student information, bypassing the main site altogether.
