June 20th is West Virginia's 150th birthday and Parkersburg is celebrating in style.
With a roster of events, there's something for everyone -- including a glimpse back in time into the state's past.
Enjoy downtown sidewalk art and Snapshots in Time, a photographic history of the Mountain State.
There will also be festivities for kids in City Park, a community picnic, outdoor movie, birthday cake with Mayor Newell and music by Rick K and the Allnighters.
“It's just going to be a fun time for the community, everything's free and it will be a wonderful weekend,” says Barbara Sullivan, chair of the Sesquicentennial Committee. “I’m extremely excited because we've been working on it since January when we first contacted the mayor.”
Sullivan says that hopefully the event will make people want to learn the history of their state, created out of the separation from Virginia.
