WV State Police Search for Fugitive

Officers arrested Jason Robert Mewshaw Saturday night shortly before 9pm. He was wanted for walking away from a work release program.

The Wood County detachment says Mewshaw saw a correctional officer looking for him, and decided to call the jail from the 7th street Kroger's to turn himself in.

He was supposed to return to the Parkersburg Correctional facility. Mewshaw will be served with warrants for escape.

Police say they're looking for Jason Robert Mewshaw. He's 5'9", 210lbs, white, and has short brown hair. Investigators say there will be a felony warrant for his arrest for escaping a correctional facility.

Mewshaw was supposed to return to the Parkersburg Correctional Facility at the end of the work release day, and never did.
