Walker Woodshed Goes Up In Flames

By  |

A Walker woodshed goes up in flames Wednesday night.

The first calls came in around 10:45 pm to WPA Road in Walker, WV.

Deer Walk Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kim Marshall says the fire was fully engulfed when responders arrived.

Chief Marshall says the biggest obstacle was water access. The nearest fire hydrant was nearly a half mile away. Crews spent the night rushing water back and forth from Rising Sun Road.

Four departments responded, including the Deer Walk, Lubeck, East Wood and Waverly Volunteer Fire Departments.

Firefighters say the shed is a total loss.

No injuries or animal were hurt in the blaze.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
