A sweep of Washington County.
It's a surprise check on every registered sex offender.
The sheriff's office only does this once in a while but it's a complete check up on all 119 sex offenders in Washington County.
The 82 they visited as of late Thursday afternoon were in compliance with the State of Ohio.
The big check is where they are living.
Sgt. Tornes says they are very happy with what they are finding.
"Well we will find that they have moved on from their residence and they have not bothered to register a new address," she says. "That's usually the biggest violation, but as of right, now everyone seems to be where they are supposed to be."
The State of West Virginia received a grant for a new sex offender mapping project, speeding up the locating process.
The State of Ohio already uses a similar system.
This especially helps in an emergency, for example, a child abduction.
Law enforcement can locate and check on the sex offenders right away in the area.
