Borrowing books from Washington County Libraries may soon cost you if you live out of state.
Starting March 1, the county's six library branches will impose a $10 fee for those looking to use their services.
The head of the Library Board of Trustees said the fee is a matter of principle.
"People locally now are paying taxes, plus, the state does, and people from out of state could come in and they're not contributing to it," said Richard Murdock.
There are almost two thousand Washington County Library card holders that live outside of Ohio.
Murdock said he doesn't think the fee will deter any active library users.
He said he hasn't received any negative feedback on the plan so far.
