West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture Candidates Hold Forum

By  |

It's the first of four forums for voters to meet the candidates and ask important questions.

And more than 100 voters came out to the Wood County 4-H Campground for the event.

Five candidates are vying for your vote come election day. One of those running is current Assistant Commissioner Steve Miller.

Several issues face farmers right now, but one in particular stands out.

"Inspections that the EPA is conducting in West Virginia on farms. We believe that they are overstepping their bounds. They're misinforming farmers about whether or not they need to have permits for their farms," says West Virginia Farm Bureau Director of Public Relations Joan Harman.

The forums continue this Thursday in Moorefield. Then move to Lewisburg next Tuesday and finish up next Thursday at the WVU Alumni Center.
