Mayor Jean Ford opened the meeting and talk quickly moved to the tree lighting ceremony on December 1st.
The Williamstown High School choir and band will be performing at the event. Council members say there are usually between 75 and 100 people in attendance.
Planner Barbara Lewis says it is a great way to kick off the holiday season.
"It is a great time to share together," says council member Barbara Lewis. "With the way the county is going we want to have things as nice as we can have them and we'd like to have everybody here for that lighting service."
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by cookies and hot chocolate.
