Those of you who are heading out on the roads, emergency crews throughout the valley are urging everyone to take safety precautions while driving.

Drivers should leave extra space between the car in front of them and when they're pulling out on the highway.

Always tap on the brake when coming to a complete stop.

Pay close attention to your surroundings while driving.

And of course, slow down.

"Obviously during these conditions, there's a posted speed limit. However, we recommend you to drive slower than the posted speed. Drive within your means in relation to the current road conditions," says Washington County Deputy Sheriff, Kevin Carr.

Washington County has three levels of snow emergency drivers are encouraged to follow.

Level one: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. The roads are icy. Drive cautiously.

Level two: Roadways are hazardous wiht blowing and drifting snow. Only those who needs to drive should be on the road. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work.

Level three: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. All employees should contact thier employer to see if they need to report to work. Those traveling on the roadways may subject themselves to arrest.
