UPDATE: 6/22/2012 3:32 pm

Parkersburg Police responded to a call of possible child neglect on 4th avenue just after midnight Thursday.

Wood County Home Confinement had Ashley Berry in their custody.
Berry was under house arrest for driving on a suspended license for a DUI.

During a routine house check officers found her one and two-year-old home alone.

Berry was later found at a neighbor's house. No word on how long the kids were left alone.

Reports say the infants found prescription medications, cleaning chemicals, and knives. They also say both kids were covered in household supplies and marker.

They were taken to Camden Clark Medical Center for evaluation.

"It was a good intervention because we were able to get these kids looks at medically and get Child Protective Services involved and make sure that everything is ok there," says Sergeant Greg Collins.

Collins also say, "it's tough for all officers. And they have to deal with this often. Unfortunately this isn't that much of a rarity and for those officers that are parents to come into this situation and have to deal with it. To be able to keep the emotion out of it is pretty difficult. They did a really good job last night of cooperating with the Wood County Sheriff's Office. And everybody on scene rallies around those children.

Berry was arraigned Friday morning in Wood County Magistrate Court.
She did not post her $40,000 bond and was transported to Regional Jail.

Berry could face up to 5 years in prison.
