A Newport man is arrested for DUI after police say he led them on a chase through Wood County.
Parkersburg Police say James Perrine was arrested early Friday morning and charged with fleeing while DUI.
An officer tried pulling him over around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of 7th Street and Staunton Avenue for having defective equipment.
Officers say Perrine took off through downtown before hitting stop sticks placed on Route 2 by the Wood County Sheriff's Office.
They say his truck's front tires were flattened and he hit a deer before coming to a stop near the intersection of Route 2 and Valley Mills Road.
Officers say they saw open beer cans inside the truck and in the bed and they say Perrine admitted he "had a few".

Perrine was released Friday morning from the Wood County Holding Center after posting $15,000 bond.
