They surpassed their goal, raising $112,000.

Now Wood County Habitat for Humanity's Caring Campaign can help more families have the home of their dreams.

"This has been a fairly new thing for us to have an actual campaign where we raise funds," says Alvin Phillips, executive director of Wood County Habitat for Humanity. "We've often asked for money but to be aware of the community...and asking individuals and businesses and foundations and things like that in a more strategic approach."

Phillips says these funds are critical to their work as a non-profit organization since the cost of homes keeps rising.

He's really excited by the overwhelming generosity of the community.
