A former stand out student athlete has made his way to the pros, but hasn't forgotten where he comes from.

Monday, the Wood County Commission authorized a resolution honoring former PHS soccer player, Zak Boggs.

Mayor Bob Newell also gave him a key to the city!

Boggs now plays for the Major League Soccer team New England Revolution.

He says he couldn't have made it this far without the help from family and friends.

"Family is everything to me. I couldn't be here today without them and they've been such good role models to me. My dad has shown me how to be a good person and my mom has kept my life completely organized and then my little sister, Tori, I wouldn't be surprised if she was standing right where I am today, very shortly," says Boggs.

Boggs recently got his masters degree in marketing at the University of South Florida.

Pre-season training for New England Revolution starts in February.
