Sheriff Jeff Sandy announced in a press release that he will be seeking re-election as the Wood County Sheriff. He is currently the 66th Sheriff of Wood County.

Jeff S. Sandy was born and raised in Wood County, graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1976, Marshall University in 1979 and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in 1980. He worked as a US Treasury Special Agent specializing in narcotics, organized crime, and terrorism for 25 years. Sheriff Sandy received his Certified Fraud Examiner accreditation in 1996. He received the Honor Award from the Secretary of Treasury; and Department of Defense Joint Services Medal for his investigative work in Iraq in 2003.

"But our work is not finished," Sandy states. “We must continue to improve our investigative efforts on fraud that is perpetrated on our citizens by criminals using the mail, internet, and by telephone from within and outside the United States. We must continue to find ways to give our employees the best training available to meet the challenges of today’s law enforcement, corrections, and tax collections. We must continue to find ways to save taxpayers money and to improve our service to the public.”
