Wrapping Gifts to Make a Difference

Volunteers worked all afternoon Sunday wrapping presents as folks dropped them off in downtown St. Marys.

The American Red Cross groups in Ritchie and Pleasants Counties joined forces to raise money for disaster relief.

Gift wrapping was free, but donations were accepted.

Local businesses gave door prizes to be raffled off every half hour. Organizers say they hope to do this and more next year.

"We hope we get the positive feedback to do this event again. We think it's exciting. We think it's fun," says Pleasants County American Red Cross Organizer Sherrie Streight. "We have our Red Cross clubs involved. This is a community service project and it shows them that during the Christmas season receiving isn't just the part of Christmas, but also giving back."

Pamphlets with information on how to donate and what each donations buy are located around town. You can also visit www.redcross.org/gifts.
