The Blues, Jazz and Folk Music Society of Ohio hosted the 21st annual River City Blues Competition this weekend at the Lafayette Hotel. Various local bands took the stage playing the guitar, drums and most importantly showcasing their singing ability. The first place winner will receive $1,000 in cash and a chance to compete for sponsorship at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis next year.
The Washington County Habitat for Humanity held their 13th annual dinner and auction to honor the late Paul Callihan. A silent auction was held where people signed up and made their bids on various items. All proceeds from the dinner and auction will help Habitat for Humanity members continue to build houses for families in Washington County.
