Juror: Ohio Bathtub Drowning Jury Violated Orders

Lebanon, Ohio (AP) -- A member of the jury that convicted a southwest Ohio man of murder in the bathtub drowning of his wife has filed a sworn statement saying jurors conducted their own experiments in the case.

The statement filed Friday says at least three jurors in the trial of 28-year-old Ryan Widmer conducted their own experiments to determine how long it would take a body to air-dry after showering or bathing.

The experiments would have violated the judge's instructions to jurors to refrain from conducting investigations on their own.

Paramedics testified during the trial that Sarah Widmer's hair was wet, but her surroundings and her husband seemed to be dry, even though he claimed he pulled her from the tub while trying to save her.
