Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- A backlog of more than 300 public employee grievances has been eliminated.
The West Virginia Public Employees Grievance Board inherited the backlog when the legislature created it two years ago to address complaints about the timeliness and cost of resolving cases.
Chairman Bob Brown says board members believe most cases now will be generally resolved in about six months.
Brown says the addition of mediation has improved the process.
Department of Administration spokeswoman Diane Holley says more than 200 grievances on average are filed each month.
Grievances include job classification, compensation, disciplinary actions and policy violations.
