Columbus, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has reported raising $2.5 million toward his re-election bid in 2010, setting up another expensive race for the midwest swing state's top political job.

The new fundraising gives Strickland more than $4 million on hand for next year's campaign, though he has not yet formally announced he will seek re-election.

The democratic governor is being challenged by republican John Kasich, a conservative commentator and former congressman.

Campaign finance reports for Kasich and the rest of 2010's candidates for statewide office are due Friday.
