Cleveland (AP) -- A 41-year soldier from Cleveland has died in the Middle East from injuries not related to combat.

The Defense Department says Spc. Richard Walters Jr. died Monday in Ali Al Salem, Kuwait.

Officials say Walters was injured in an incident that is under investigation.

The military did not offer further details in a statement issued Tuesday.

Military officials say Walters was serving in support of the Iraq war. He was assigned to the 14th Combat Support Hospital of Fort Benning, Ga.
