(AP) -- Concord University is closing its science building for the spring semester so mercury found in storage room can be removed.
Concord officials say elemental mercury was discovered in the storage room last week. President Jerry Beasley said test results showed less 1 pound of mercury escaped containment.
Concord said Wednesday it has hired a hazardous waste disposal company to remove the mercury.
Classes and faculty offices will be moved to another location.
