HARTS, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia State Police say two people have died in a Lincoln County house fire that's under investigation.

They've identified the victims as 85-year-old Vivian Hensley and her son, 61-year-old Burns Hensley.

The fire happened late Wednesday night near Harts.

Vivian Hensley's other son, Lawrence, told media outlets that he and his sons tried to rescue the pair, but they were unable to get through the thick smoke.

Lawrence Hensley and his family live next door.
