SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Artists have a Feb. 18 deadline to submit their entries for the 2015 edition of West Virginia Wildlife Calendar.
The Division of Natural Resources says the calendar will be its 30th edition of the popular showcase for artists and the wildlife they depict.
Popular game and fish species are often highlighted in the calendars, but the division says lesser-known species are welcome. That includes bats, turtles, salamanders, small mammals and nongame fish.
Artists are reminded that the calendar format is horizontal.
A $100 prize is awarded for each painting chosen. The artwork cover fetches $500 for the artist.
Artists can send in multiple entries and resubmit previous entries.
