St. Paul, Minnesota (AP) -- Ohio delegates to the Republican National Convention are responding to Sen. John McCain's request that delegates help raise money for victims of Hurricane Gustav.
Ohio GOP Chairman Bob Bennett said in a statement Monday that the delegation had raised more than $20,000 for hurricane relief efforts.
Guests on a paddleboat cruise for ohio delegates Sunday were given pledge cards to donate to relief efforts.
Ohio delegates say they are hardly about to complain about canceled speeches and celebrations when gulf coast residents are worrying about losing their homes.
Bennett expressed confidence that the convention will accomplish its most essential business -- nominating McCain and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
