GM Workers Say Goodbye to Ohio SUV Plant

Moraine, Ohio (AP) -- It's been an emotional day at the General Motors plant in Moraine, near Dayton.

Some workers hugged and exchanged photos as they said their goodbyes.

The closing of the plant, after 27 years of producing cars, sport utility vehicles and trucks, wiped out the jobs of the more than 1,000 employees who remained after earlier cutbacks.

Workers were told in June that GM would close the plant, which once was a thriving, three-shift operation.

A company spokeswoman says workers assembled mostly white Chevrolet Trailblazers today, but the final vehicle off the line was a GMC Envoy.
