Dayton, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio sheriff says a young mother struggled with an intruder before she was shot and killed in her home and the gunman ran off with her 4-year-old son.
Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer says 22-year-old suspect Charlie Myers of Columbus has confessed to being involved in the case.
Officials say Myers is being held at the Franklin County Jail in Columbus on a warrant for aggravated murder.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jennifer Nelson was found dead at her Dayton home Friday. That was after her son William was discovered at a central Ohio rest stop and told travelers a strange man had shot his mother.
Plummer says the boy's words were: "Somebody killed my mom."
The sheriff says investigators are looking at several possible motives, including robbery.
