Ohio Cookie Maker Recalls Peanut Products

Westerville, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio cookie manufacturer is recalling cookies and cookie dough made with ingredients from a peanut company blamed for a national salmonella outbreak.

Cheryl & Co. says it's voluntarily recalling products in response to Peanut Corp. Of America's expanded recall.

The outbreak has sickened 600 people and has led to one of the largest recalls in history. Ohio has reported 92 salmonella cases and two deaths possibly linked to the outbreak.

Food and Drug Administration inspectors found that Peanut Corp. shipped peanut products that tested positive for salmonella on 12 occasions from 2007-08.

Suburban Columbus-based Cheryl says its recall doesn't include cookie products made after Sept. 16. The company says no illnesses have been linked to its products.
