Ohio College Eyes Alternative Energy Campus

Toledo, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio college is setting out to create a separate campus that will focus on alternative energy.

Leaders at the University of Toledo hope to transform an area near its main campus into a hub that studies wind, solar and alternative power.

The school already is known nationally for its solar research.

Toledo President Lloyd Jacobs says the university is hoping to use federal stimulus money to make the changes.

Few, if any, schools are setting aside an entire campus to focus on alternative energy.

But Toledo officials say it could be a way for them to stand out in the energy research field.
