WV Man Gets 30 Years in Ex-Wife's Murder

Huntington, W.Va. (AP) -- A Huntington man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing his ex-wife, whose body was found inside a trash can.

62-year-old Wayne Burton Brown pleaded guilty Friday in Cabell County Circuit Court to second-degree murder in the November 2007 shooting of Mary Joe Brown.

Wayne Brown entered a Kennedy plea, in which the defendant doesn't admit guilt.

Court records showed the 59-year-old victim wasn't reported missing until Feb. 14, 2008. Four days later, police found her body inside a 50-gallon trash can underneath the couple's home.

The couple divorced in 1999. A relative of the victim testified they were living together for financial reasons.

Wayne Brown will be eligible for parole after serving 10 years.
