Dayton, Ohio (AP) -- The U.S. Air Force says a fire broke out at Wright-Patterson Air Force base near Dayton during a routine test that involved shooting a round into an aircraft wing.
Base spokesman Josh Aycock says Friday's fire occurred on a test pad at an outdoor firing range.
Aycock says initial indications are that the round ignited the fuel inside the wing, and the ensuing fire could not be brought under control by fire-suppression equipment surrounding the test pad.
Fire trucks were called in, and the blaze was extinguished.
Aycock says there were no injuries.
