Columbus, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio is retraining employees at a juvenile detention facility after a report questioned how well staff understood procedures for preventing assaults by youth.
The report reviewed by the Associated Press examined procedures at the Marion Juvenile Correctional Facility, where in December a youth assaulted a social worker in her office.
The report, issued by a state watchdog, said procedures are not fully and consistently implemented and that some staff have not been adequately trained on reporting aspects of the policy.
The state disagreed with the findings but held new training meetings for staff and youth anyway.
Don Norman, Superintendent at the Marion Facility, says the center is doing everything it can to deter youth sexual misconduct.
