WV Federal Buildings Share In Stimulus Money

Charleston, WV (AP) -- The Federal Courthouse in Charleston is getting a green facelift.

The eight-story building is one of three U.S. Government buildings in West Virginia to benefit from $30.6 million in federal stimulus-funded makeovers.

Plans call for spending nearly $4.7 million to install solar panels on the roof and to upgrade heating, air conditioning and lighting in the decade-old courthouse.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' building in Huntington will undergo nearly $17 million in upgrades to make it more energy efficient.

A Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms building in Martinsburg will undergo about $9 million in upgrades.

A total of $4.5 billion was allocated to improve energy efficiency in federal buildings across the nation.
