Charleston, WV (AP) -- The 2009 legislative session may one day be remembered by three b's: Barbie, biscuits and the budget.
The budget dominated the early days of the session, and the economic situation soon became so hard to read that Gov. Joe Manchin and lawmakers decided to wait until may to tackle it.
Without that primary task, plenty of attention was directed at bills that would ban Barbie dolls or require calorie counts on fast food menus.
But few of the measures that caught the public's attention are still alive.
The session will recess Saturday, with a record of what lawmakers say is a back-to-basics agenda of trying to address urgent economic problems rather than forge new projects or initiatives.
