Beckley, WV (AP) -- Two Ohio men have been sentenced in U.S. District court in Beckley for their roles stemming from a mail theft investigation.
Federal prosecutors said Monday that 25-year-old Teddy Davis of Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced to two years in prison for aggravated identity theft, while 20-year-old Bryan Hoffman of the Columbus suburb of Dublin, Ohio, received up to six months of home confinement and three years of supervised release for mail fraud.
Federal prosecutors say Davis and Hoffman stole mail from residents of Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia starting in April 2008. The pair then checked into a Beckley, W.Va., motel and began applying for credit cards that were sent to the hotel. The credit cards were never activated.
