White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. (AP) -- The Greenbrier's new casino is going to be built underground.

The luxury resort's new owner Jim Justice told the Sunday Gazette-Mail that he plans to build a 50,000-square foot underground casino near the hotel's main entrance.

A reflecting pool with cover the casino.

Though going underground will increase the cost to about $25 million, it also will keep the noise from disturbing other guests.

Justice, who bought the resort last month, said he hopes to break ground in September and open by spring.

Voters approved limited gambling for resort guests last fall. A portion of gambling revenue would be set aside to pay for employee benefits.
