Canton, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio man charged in the stabbing deaths of his two children and the shooting death of his former mother-in-law appeared calm and occasionally smiled during his arraignment.
Thirty-five-year-old James Mammone (mah-mohn') III did not enter a plea Wednesday in Canton Municipal Court.
A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.
His ex-wife, 29-year-old Marcia Mammone, wept as she sat in the courtroom Wednesday.
She left without commenting.
Police arrested Mammone on Monday morning and say he has confessed to the killings, saying he wanted to inflict emotional pain on his ex-wife.
He remains held in $15 million bond.
