Toledo, Ohio (AP) -- A prosecutor in northern Ohio says a man accused of killing his wife and stuffing her body in a car trunk 17 years ago knew his marriage was coming to end at the time the woman disappeared.
Thomas Zich is accused of strangling Mary Jane Zich and faces life in prison if convicted.
Prosecutors began laying out their case Wednesday.
One of the key witnesses expected to testify is the victim's daughter who was 3 years old when her mother was killed.
Prosecutors say the daughter, who is now 20, saw her stepfather put the body in the car trunk.
The defense questions whether the memories from such a young child are unreliable and how much her impressions of what happened were influenced by family members over the past 17 years.
