West Union, Ohio (AP) -- The State Highway Patrol says a man died when he crashed his single-engine experimental plane in southern Ohio's Adams County.
Sixty-four-year-old Anthony Schendl of Seaman was pronounced dead at the scene about a mile from the county airport Wednesday night.
The patrol say he was the only person on board.
Troopers say the aircraft had engine trouble and Schendl appeared to be trying to return to the airport in West Union when the plane went down in a field around 8:30 p.m.
Federal investigators planned to visit the crash scene on Thursday.
