Campus Martius Archaeology Day

Spend a day at the Campus Martius Museum learning about the exciting field of archaeology. You are invited to take part in our artifact identification clinic, lectures, and flint knapping demonstrations. Marietta College Geology Club will have many fossil and dinosaur collections throughout the day. Private collections of historic and prehistoric artifacts will also be on display. Contemporary items will be on sale for the day. If you would like to have your artifacts on display for the day, please contact Bill Reynolds (740) 373-3750.

Listen to several speakers explain recent digs and new discoveries.

11:00 – 12:00 - Dr. Jerry Anderson - Archaeologist for the Blennerhassett Historical Foundation - Early Archaic People of the Ohio Valley.

1:00 – 2:00 - William Picard - Archaeologist for The Ohio Historical Society Recent discoveries at Pickawillany, a native village and trading post circa 1750.

2:00 – 3:00 - Doug Angeloni and Tom Hornbrook - Record keeping of historic materials from the Great Trail in the Tuscarawas Valley.
